We have all seen pictures from the Grand Canyon and most of them look alike (though some are technically much better executed). There is not really that much choice at the Grand Canyon anyways unless you really start hiking down. So yeah, I took the same kinds of pictures that others do but tried to give them my own twist by playing with the background. I was hiking a little and the August sun was burning and it just kept getting hotter and my water was close to its end when I saw a little abandoned house right by the canyon. Upon closer inspection it was a lift that used to take people up and down the Canyon. Tired of the same old canyon shots, I decided to use a broken window in that lift as my foreground and here is the final result:
Now if you ask me where exactly this was, I can’t tell you, but it was close to the Hualapai reservation. If you decide to go, don’t forget a hat to protect you from the sun and a large bottle of water to keep you hydrated. When I was there, it was 120 degrees Fahrenheit (approx. 50 degrees Celsius) and the sun just kept burning. This picture and many other of my travel photographs can be licensed or bought as prints, so just send me an email if you are interested or contact me via my Facebook or Flickr page.
